I have reoccurring urinary tract infections (usually 5-6 times a year). I have a regular Urologist that I see who has prescribed me Macro-bid, Nitrofurantoine, Sulfatrim Cipro. I have these all in a pescription any time i need them. I felt an infection coming on two weeks ago, so i began taking Macrobid. After the 7 day treatment, the symptoms had not changed. There was still a fixed need to urinate, and when i did, it was a few drops at a time. So i began taking Sulfatrim. Yesterday, the feeling in my bladder was so bad, I decided to go to the emergency room. They did a urine test, and a gynecological exam, and found nothing on both. They sent me domestic with no answers. I have another appointment with a new urologist in two days, and i'm wondering, could this be a signal of a bigger problem?
There are Lots of problems that can mimic a Uti. But from your screen name, I think we can eliminate prostate disease?????
I also assume that the physician did a urine Culture. In that, they take some urine and try to grow some of the infectious disease, then identify it under the microscope. Whether they cannot find any microbes to grow, then you do Not have a Uti. hint: Ask if the doctor has done a culture, ans Ask what microbe they found. means the problem Is more serious. Possible causes range from muscle tone problems in the sphincter muscles (that keep the urine int he bladder until you release it), to problems with the bladder lining, to -- yes -- cancer.
KEEP going to the doctor, and do Not settle until one of them provides you with a treatment that Works. And do Not refuse a treatment because it is not a tablet You Mighty need minor or even major surgery to fix whatever problem is found. The point is to Receive It Constant, not whine approximately a stay in the hospital!
Go to the physician, submit to the test, and go from their.
